Our first Official blog from Germany!

Well here we are!  We have been here for over 3 weeks now.  It's crazy that's it's been so long.  But we've gotten a lot done in those 3 weeks.  We found an apartment, moved in, started to furnish it, and Jesse got a job!  I know I know.  We moved here because Jesse got a job working with the church.  But we HAD to get a job on base so that we could get I.D. cards.  These I.D. cards allow us to do a myriad of things.  And we had to get them, or we would have had to go back to the states after 90 days.  We were both applying to jobs on base.  His just cam through faster than mine.  He will be working part-time at the golf course on base!  He's pretty excited about the perks.  He gets access to the golf course and all that they have there, he gets 2 free buckets of balls for the driving range everyday, and he gets to play a round of golf for $2!!!!  So this job is definitely a blessing!  He starts tomorrow morning (Monday), but unfortunately he has to start work at 6:00 a.m.  I don't know that Jesse has ever seen that time on his clock ;)  He's not all that excited about the start time, but he should get off around 11:00 a.m.  So that's not too bad.  We'll find out his schedule tomorrow.

We have had some time to do a little bit of exploring.  We went to Mannheim (where Jesse's Grandaddy was station many years ago) and got to go see a palace there (they didn't allow cameras).  And we also got to go to Trier.  Trier is supposed to be the oldest town in Germany.  They have the "Black Gate", or "Porto Negro" there.  It's a Roman structure built in the 2nd or 3rd century.  Not so sure about the details.  But the whole town is really neat.  We had a good time there.

Many great things to come I'm sure!  Jesse's cousin, Joanna, is coming to visit us this week!  She gets here on July 29.  I'm sure we'll have lots more to tell after that!

Much love,
Jesse & Amber
